Dawn-Marie Kerper, Executive Consultant for Ogilvy

BMA Colorado May 2018-June 2019 President

TAP| What would you say most motivated you to assume the role of president?

DMK| There are so many things that I think this team of people can do. And I was happy to take a turn at the helm to help us get there. And it doesn’t hurt that I was following in the footsteps of incredible past presidents.

TAP| In regards to the organization, what goals or projects are you most excited or passionate about?

DMK| We are spending a lot of time re-envisioning what we offer as an organization and how we can better serve our members and not-yet members. We’re not quite ready to share it with the community yet, but I’m excited to have news early next year.

TAP| How has being president changed you?

DMK| I thought I had no free time before! Just kidding. I’m not sure how it’s changed me yet, but I know that whatever changes come of this experience it will be due to the great people I’ve had a chance to meet and work with.

TAP| What has been the most surprising to you about being president?

DMK| I am always surprised and delighted by how willing people are to give away their time and their considerable talents to give back to their communities. It’s awe inspiring.

TAP| What is one of the toughest challenges your organization is facing?

DMK| Figuring out what associations look like and how they can serve a community today – when there are so many demands on our time and so many choices for people to consider.

TAP| Why is it important for companies to support their employees in their desire to volunteer for business organizations?

DMK| You never know where your next great employee, or your next great customer will come from. And there is no substitute for real, live interactions with people.

TAP| With so many great organizations to support, why should people support yours?

DMK| Because we’re the most fun? We have a pretty specific audience who we are trying to serve: B2B marketers. If you are a marketer, an agency employee or a consultant focused on the B2B space – then we are your people.

TAP| In closing, call our readers to action! How can we support you?

DMK| We always have room for more people to join the team, but really we’d just love for those who are interested to join our community. Attend an event, sign up for our email, enter our awards at the end of the year. We’d love to get to know you.
